Prof. Dr. Thomas Frese

Prof. Dr. med. Thomas Frese ist Direktor des Instituts für Allgemeinmedizin. Er ist Facharzt für Allgemeinmedizin und hat die Professur seit 2016 inne. Von 2000 - 2007 hat er in Halle studiert. Seit 2013 arbeitet er als Allgemeinarzt in einem ländlichen Gebiet nördlich von Leipzig und ist seit 2018 zudem Geschäftsführer der Primärmedizinisches Versorgungszentrum Oberes Vogtland GmbH.

Thomas Frese ist seit Oktober 2016 Professor und Direktor des Instituts für Allgemeinmedizin an der Medizinischen Fakultät der Universität Halle-Wittenberg. Im Oktober 2018 wurde er Ehrensekretär des EGPRN und im Juni 2019 Mitglied der Geschäftsleitung von Wonca Europe.

    Die besonderen Interessengebiete sind Beratungsanlässe in der Allgemeinmedizin, Epidemiologie und Behandlung des Diabetes Mellitus in der Allgemeinmedizin, Technische Assistenzsysteme und Erleichterung von interprofessioneller Kommunikation in der Versorgung, Lehrforschung und Implementierung klinischer Forschung im allgemeinmedizinischen Kontext

    Derzeit steht die Anwendung technischer Systeme in der Allgemeinmedizin und in der Familienmedizin sowie das umgebungsunterstützte Wohnen älterer Menschen im Mittelpunkt des Interesses.

    Thomas Frese ist seit 2016 deutscher Landesvertreter und Mitglied des Executive Board des European General Practice Research Network (EGPRN), wo er seit 2018 auch das Amt des Honorary Secretary inne hat, Seit 2014 ist er Associate Editor beim BMC Family Practice. Juni 2019 ist er Mitglied der Geschäftsleitung von WONCA Europe geworden, wo er 2021 zum President Elect aufgestellt wurde.
