[Translate to Englisch:] Project A2: The role of noncanonical poly(A/U) polymerases in RNA metabolism

During the last years a new family of proteins related to the canonical poly(A) polymerase (PAP) was discovered. They polyadenylate their RNA substrates, which leads to activation of translation of dormant mRNAs in oocytes or in other cases can function as an degradation signal. Some members of this family even do not polyadenylate but polyuridylate their RNA substrates. We are going to analyse two noncanonical PAPs in humans to find in vivo RNA targets.
