"Characterization of 5`nucleotidase specific for modified nucleotides" and " The Regulation of nanos RNA"
Juliane studied Biochemistry at the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg. Nucleotidases catalyze the hydrolysis of nucleoside monophosphates and thus regulate the intracellular nucleotide concentrations. There are several nucleotidases known which are highly conserved and differ from each other in their substrate specificities. During my diploma thesis I identified a nucleotidase in D. melanogaster that is able to hydrolyze modified nucleoside monophosphates. Now I am completing the characterization of this nucleotidase and its homologues in human. After that, I am planning to study the translational regulation of the Drosophila nanos mRNA.
