Me31B is a protein that is likely involved in the regulation of mRNA metabolism in Drosophila melanogaster as it was identified in different approaches to determine factors of translational repression and mRNA degradation. The biochemical analysis of the purified protein should give hints on its function in the complex regulation of mRNA metabolism.
