As part of the HAL-OX research network, scientists at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg have been funded to work on collaborative projects with research groups in Oxford. It is planned that these scientists will conduct part of their research in guest laboratories in Oxford.

HAL-OX also funds travel support and student assistance for laboratory projects that promote collaborative biomedical research between Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) and research institutes in Oxford.

For example, Dr. Heidi Olzscha, formerly a member of the Medical Sciences Division in Oxford (Nicholas La Thangue group), was supported with travel grants on several occasions and finally decided to join the Institute of Physiological Chemistry at the Medical Faculty of Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg as a senior researcher.
