Gastrointestinal tumors

Approximately 400.000 people are diagnosed with cancer every year in Germany. About 30 % of them are malignant tumors of the gastrointestinal tract (esophagus, stomach, pancreas, liver, gall system, small intestine, large intestine/ rectum).
We are offering the comprehensive spectrum of available drug medication in our Department. Almost all therapies can be given out-patient. Moreover, we are managing the multidisciplinary therapy as we are working in close cooperation with other medical disciplines. Clinical trials are available for almost all tumors of the gastrointestinal tract and will be discussed individually with the patient.

Special case colorectal cancer (colorectal carcinoma):

Many patients suffer of a too late diagnosed and progressed disease. The following surgery is almost the one and only option as long as the cancer hasn`t spread metastases to other organs. In case of metastases in other organs we will offer an individual therapy which includes medical methods (classical chemotherapy, new substances such as antibodies), radiotherapy, nuclear medicine and sometimes surgical operations. As a result of these therapies the statistical survival has almost doubled in the last decade. The efficiency of these therapies has been proven scientifically in a number of clinical trials and many hopeful substances are currently tested. Our main goal is to offer our patients with progressed and metastasizing colorectal cancer a successful medical treatment and stabilization of their quality of life for many years.
