European Master of Science in Midwifery

The modules of the Master programme "Pflege- und Gesundheitswissenschaften" (nursing and health sciences) are offered for students of the study programme "European Master of Science in Midwifery". This cooperation is facilitated by an agreement between the Institute for Health and Nursing Science of the Martin Luther University of Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) and the Medizinische Hochschule Hannover (MHH) since Spring 2010.

  • Module 1: Advanced Research Methods I (10 LP) = Forschungsmethoden I 
  • Module 11: Advanced Research Methods II (5 LP) = Forschungsmethoden II 

The teaching and learning in these modules (Module 1 und 11) will take place in a classroom setting (learning blocks in presence) as well as by independent study (see menu button Master Degree programme > Dates).

Especially the following modules – however not exclusively – are designed in such a way that students can focus on midwifery science and choose specific areas of interest:

  • Module  3: Evidence-based Clinical Expertise in Midwifery (5 LP) = Evidence-basierte berufsspezifische klinische Expertise (Hebammenwesen) 
  • Module 18: Internship in the domain of scientific expertise in health care/management (5 LP) = Gesundheits-, pflege- und therapiewissenschaftliche Expertise und ihr Management

The following two modules focus on research in midwifery: 

  • Module 10-1: Clinical research projects: Midwifery and family care I (5 LP) = Klinische Forschungsprojekte: Hebammenwesen und Familienpflege 
     Module 10-2: Clinical research projects: Midwifery and family care II (10 LP) = Klinische Forschungsprojekte: Hebammenwesen und Familienpflege
     (this module extends over 2 semesters)

The following two modules focus on research in education/didactics in midwifery: 

  • Module 20-1: Clinical research projects: Midwifery and family care I (5 LP) = Klinische Forschungsprojekte: Hebammenwesen und Familienpflege 
     Module 20-2: Clinical research projects: Midwifery and family care II (10 LP) = Klinische Forschungsprojekte: Hebammenwesen und Familienpflege
     (this module extends over 2 semesters)

Persons are invited to submit their applications if at the same time they apply for the study programme "European Master of Science in Midwifery" at the Medizinische Hochschule Hannover (MHH) or are already students of one of the following universities (consortium members):

  • Glasgow Caledonian University
  • Academie Verloskunde Maastricht (AVM University)
  • University College of Health Studies in Ljubljana
  • Haute Ecole de la Santé, Lausanne
