Die Regulation der Genexpression ist eine der faszinierendsten und komplexesten Aufgaben der Zelle. Die Forschungsprojekte in unserem Labor zielen darauf ab, die molekulare Funktion und die regulatorischen Prinzipien von nichtkodierenden RNAs (ncRNAs) und RNA-bindenden Proteinen (RBPs) in Krebszellen aufzudecken. Um dieses Ziel zu erreichen, entwickeln wir neuartige Strategien um Gene gezielt zu regulieren, die wir mit Methoden der klassischen Zellbiologie und Biochemie kombinieren, um molekulare Wege und Interaktionsnetzwerke dieser wichtigen Regulatoren im Kontext der Tumorbiologie, insbesondere bei der Metastasierung, zu analysieren. Letztendlich wollen wir Schwachstellen bei Krebserkrankungen beim Menschen identifizieren, die eine unausgewogene Expression von ncRNAs und RBPs aufweisen, wobei genetische Screening-Tools (z. B. CRISPR / Cas9) eingesetzt werden. Unsere Forschung zielt letztlich darauf ab therapeutische Zielstrukturen zu identifizieren und neue Behandlungsmöglichkeiten zu entwicklen.
